Bloomberg might run for president if Biden doesn’t

Michael Bloomberg, former mayor of New York City, is reconsidering whether to run for president in 2020.

The possible change of heart comes as former Vice President Joe Biden faces allegations of unwanted touching.

Bloomberg, a vocal critic of President Trump, announced March 5 he would not run for president and instead would focus on thwarting Trump’s agenda. “It’s essential that we nominate a Democrat who will be in the strongest position to defeat Donald Trump and bring our country back together,” he said at the time.

People who have discussed the matter with Bloomberg told Axios that Bloomberg’s decision not to enter the race could change depending on what Biden does. Two women in recent days have accused him of inappropriate touching years ago.

Biden has been expected to announce his candidacy in the coming weeks. The former vice president has said he does not recall his expressions of affection as others have.
