Pelosi condemns ‘staggering partisan effort’ to spin Mueller findings

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Thursday Attorney General William Barr, “has confirmed the staggering partisan effort by the Trump Admin to spin public’s view” of the Mueller report.

That included an acknowledgment that President Trump was briefed on it before Congress, which she characterized as “a sneak preview.”

Pelosi made the remarks on Twitter following Barr’s press conference, in which he repeatedly stated there was no evidence of collusion between the Trump 2016 campaign and the Russians. Pelosi posted a copy of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler’s request sent to special counsel Robert Mueller that he testify before Congress by May 23.

Congressional Democrats are also expected to subpoena the entire, unredacted Mueller report once the edited version has reached Capitol Hill.

Despite Barr’s conclusions largely exonerating Trump, Hill Democrats are expected to keep up the pressure on the White House through committee action. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., is pushing forward with that panel’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016, and related topics.
