Details were hazy Friday evening on the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man Thursday night on Pentagon Row in Arlington.
Police spokesman Detective Scott Gomez said witnesses were being interviewed and they would have a better picture of what transpired today.
What is known is this: A 24-year-old white male was shot and killed just after midnight Friday on the 1300 block of S. Joyce Street outside of the Pentagon Row shopping center.
The only businesses still open in the center were bars. All other shops were closed. As of Friday evening, no suspect had been identified, and police would not release the identity of the victim. Police would not say whether the victim was targeted or the shooting was random.
Gomez said more information would be released. “We’re conducting a series of interviews,” he said. “After that they’ll be able to release the name.”
Following the shooting, police interviewed witnesses and handed out more than 100 fliers asking for information on the shooting. Gomez said police were continuing to interview witnesses Friday evening.
They ask anyone with information to call 703-228-4252.
