FormerRepublican Rep. Mark Foley, who left Congress amid a congressional page scandal in 2006, told his potential constituents Tuesday night that he would not run for mayor of West Palm Beach, Fla. Foley explained on his radio program “Foley on Politics” on WSVU-960 AM that he would use his “God-given talents” to do work in the nonprofit sector and in business, according to SunshineStateNews.com. “I have come to the conclusion that now is not the right time,” Foley explained. “I honestly am humbled and thankful for all those who offered words of encouragement and advice,” Foley added, saying many Floridians had encouraged him to run.
