Final: Redskins 34, Raiders 13
1st Qtr | 2nd Qtr | 3rd Qtr | 4th Qtr
» Good blocking over the right side and some nice play calls.
» The Redskins are really getting a lot of yards after initial contact today. Sometimes it’s only a few at a time, but those few yards have made a big difference, like when Santana Moss took the receiver screen on second and 7 and gained a first down. Did not think he would get it.
» By the way, Moss was not interfered with on the first play of the fourth quarter. Not that it would have mattered because there was another defensive penalty.
» What’s surprising about Fred Davis is the improvement in his blocking. But on the screen to Moss, it was a matter of using his athleticism. That’s right up his alley.
» JaMarcus Russell looks uncertain on any throw that calls for him to read downfield. He’s late on too many passes. No wonder these fans boo him at every chance. He looks like a guy playing his first game.
» Great play by LaRon Landry on the interception. When he hasn’t been in man coverage today he’s done well. And they took him out of that role after the first quarter.
» The Redskins stayed aggressive inside the red zone on their last scoring drive, a change from the New Orleans game and the Philly game. Not that I disagreed with last week’s decision to paly for a field goal considering the situation. But, today, it’s still early in the fourth quarter. Get the touchdown and put the game away. They did just that.
» Andre Carter will think about that botched fumble return for a long time. The Redskins work a lot on the scoop and scores and he was only a few yards from the end zone. Not sure how he didn’t pick that one up.
» Why the Raiders keep calling for long drops by Russell is beyond me. He can’t make a decision when dropping deep and he doesn’t have time.
» Antwaan Randle El can’t be trusted anymore on punt returns. Making bad decisions; dropping too many of them.
» Gano’s kickoffs have been pretty good today; had heard he excelled in that area. His directional kicks have been good, too.
» The Redskins have run well to the right side all second half. Lots of I-formation with Todd Yoder leading the way. They saw what was working and stuck with it.
» Once again, the Redskins played as physical as they have all year. Lots of big hits from numerous players. This team still has fun playing despite what it has gone through this season. It says something.
» Orakpo not only has a lot of sacks, but a lot of pressures and hits.
» So this is what it’s like to rush with a big lead in the fourth quarter.
