Stimulus update: Direct payment worth $1,312 to be sent to some Alaska residents in nine days

The Alaska Department of Revenue is set to send out checks from the Permanent Fund Dividend to eligible residents in the state who have yet to receive their dividend checks in nine days.

People who will receive their payments on Feb. 15 include residents of Alaska who have not gotten their PFD checks from 2023 or earlier and have the “Eligible-Not Paid” status on the PFD website on Wednesday, according to the state.

Eligible residents can apply for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend until March 31, either online or by paper form.

State officials say the Permanent Fund Dividend gives eligible residents a payment every year based on the state’s mineral revenues for that year. A resident must apply each year to qualify. For 2023, each eligible resident got checks worth $1,312 from the program. The 2023 PFD payments began going out in October 2023.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the 2023 payment. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”

“This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022,” Crum said last year. “The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans.”

The Alaska residents eligible for PFD payments include those who intend to remain residents of the state indefinitely and are not convicted felons, among other requirements outlined by state officials. Further details about the Permanent Fund Dividend are available on the state website.
