After filming “State of Play” in D.C. for almost a month, Russell Crowe bade farewell Monday night by throwing his production crew a private party at Spezie Ristorante downtown.

Crowe had met chef/partners Cesare Lanfranconi and Enzo Livia the previous week, when he, co-star Rachel McAdams, director Kevin MacDonald and other cast and crew utilized the restaurant as a home base while shooting scenes near 17th and L streets. Crowe practiced speaking Italian with Lanfranconi and Livia, who were both impressed with his accent.
