FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A jury has found a North Texas woman guilty in the 2011 shooting death of her husband.
The Tarrant County jury convicted 45-year-old Michele Williams of murder in the death of 40-year-old Greg Williams at their Keller home. The jury found her not guilty of tampering with evidence.
She faces life in prison.
Prosecutors contend Michele Williams killed her husband for money, arguing that she was a beneficiary of a life insurance policy totaling $800,000. But defense attorneys say Greg Williams took his own life.
Michele Williams previously told investigators that an intruder fatally shot her husband.
A previous plea deal with prosecutors that included a prison term of up to 20 years was revoked by a judge earlier this year because Williams later claimed she was innocent.
