Harris has received more and more attention as calls for Biden to step down have heated back up after former President Donald Trump’s assassination attempt. She’s considered the favorite to take Biden’s spot as Democratic presidential nominee if he steps down.

North Carolina is considered a critical battleground state, though Trump leads in the state’s polling. RealClearPolitics’s polling average has Trump ahead 47.2% to 41.5% in the state.
