NEW YORK (AP) — President Barack Obama will get a firsthand look at construction progress at the World Trade Center site.

He’s scheduled to arrive in New York City on Thursday afternoon, along with Michelle Obama.

They’re expected to head to One World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, where they will meet elected officials including Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

One World Trade Center, the monolith being built to replace the twin towers destroyed in the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, is expected to be completed by early 2014. As of Wednesday, steel has been erected up to the 104th floor, and workers have begun installing marble finishing on the ground floor.

A dispute over hundreds of millions of dollars has stalled construction of a Sept. 11 museum at the site.
