South Dakota election results delayed due to absent poll worker

South Dakota will release its election results at 10 p.m. EST, one hour later than anticipated, South Dakota Secretary of State Jason Gant said Tuesday.

Gant tweeted the news Tuesday. He said a poll worker who didn’t show up at a Shannon County site was to blame, as it forced the precinct to open late.

A pair of polls released Wednesday showed Republican former Gov. Mike Rounds with a double-digit lead in a three-way race for U.S. Senate that includes Democrat Rick Weiland and former GOP senator and congressman Larry Pressler, who is running as an independent.
