Dear Jacksonville Jaguars: We hear you have some interest in hiring our football coach, Randy Edsall. I understand why. He has been an exemplary employee at Maryland: clean cut, punctual, courteous and neatly dressed.
When we hired Randy in January, we knew this day would come. We signed him to a six-year contract but realized there was little chance we could keep him here through the duration.

When Randy took over, the change was dramatic. Players tucked in their shirts and discarded their jewelry, hats and cell phones. The players not only pulled up their pants, they pulled up their grades.
We were certain success would follow. But injuries destroyed a season that started with such promise. With the regimentation Randy has instilled, we expect success in 2012 regardless of who our coach is. The lessons Randy taught will endure.
Randy has put Maryland on the straight and narrow. We know we can’t hold him back. We endorse your efforts to bring him to Jacksonville. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
