The House Freedom Caucus elected Pennsylvania Republican Scott Perry to be the next chairman of the conservative group.
A source confirmed to the Washington Examiner on Monday that Perry was picked to replace Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs, who is constrained by term limits from serving again.
He ran against Ohio’s Warren Davidson and North Carolina’s Ralph Norman for the position, Politico reported.
PENNSYLVANIA CONGRESSMAN ISSUE ONE WORD RESPONSE TO RESIGNATION DEMANDS

Perry is an ally of former President Donald Trump who has supported claims that he rightfully won the 2020 presidential election, despite election officials on the state and federal level saying they have no evidence of widespread fraud. Perry will take over leadership in the new year.
The HFC confirmed later Monday night that Perry, who represents Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District and serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee, had been elected to lead the conservative caucus.
“For the past six years, I have stood shoulder to shoulder with the men and women of the Freedom Caucus as we have tirelessly fought to hold the line to promote liberty, safety and prosperity for Americans,” Perry said in a statement. “I am grateful to continue to carry the torch for these champions of freedom.”

Biggs’s last high-profile event as chairman of the HFC was an unofficial hearing Monday at advocacy group FreedomWorks’s headquarters about President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate.
“It has been an honor and privilege to lead this fierce group, as we battled to secure our border, restore fiscal sanity and protect Americans’ liberties in the wake of government overreach,” Biggs said. “Since the establishment of the House Freedom Caucus Scott Perry has been an essential voice. I am confident that he will continue to hold the establishment accountable and demand that Republicans ‘do what they said they would do.’”
