If MSNBC’s Chris Matthews wants to run for Senate, he’d better start buying up some domain names.
It’s long been speculated that the “Hardball” host has had his eye on Sen. Arlen Specter’s seat in Pennsylvania and may pursue a run in 2010.

Well, local historian Andrew Carroll is already a step ahead of Matthews, having purchased ChrisMatthewsForSenate.com, MatthewsForSenator.com and ChrisMatthewForSenator.com. Carroll is the founder and director of the Legacy Project, a nonprofit that works to honor and remember U.S. troops and veterans by preserving their wartime correspondence. Carroll is also the author of several books, including “Letters of a National,” “Grace Under Fire,” “Behind the Lines” and “War Letters.” When we spoke with Carroll, he said he purchased the domain names after a recent appearance by Matthews on “The Colbert Report.” But Carroll vows that he’s not in it for the money. “I will give it to Chris if he wants it,” he said.
MatthewsForSenate is also taken, although Matthews could rent it for $330 a year from PoliticalWebNames.com.
Or how about thinking a bit outside the box, Chris? PennsylvaniaLovesChris.com, Matthews4Senate.com and Matthews2010.com are all still available.
