Pro-Clinton super PAC creates snapchat filter: ‘Deport Trump’

When it comes to Tuesday’s GOP debate, one pro-Clinton super PAC, Priorities USA has high hopes. For their anti-Trump snapchat filter that is. Snapchat users in Nevada, where the debate is being hosted, can select a filter that says “Deport Trump,'” complete with that red baseball cap and tufts of Trump’s equally iconic hair.

As MSNBC reported, the effort isn’t costing the group much, at “five figures.” Still, MSNBC notes that “it’s an innovative application of new technology that campaigns and political groups are just beginning to explore as they seek new ways to reach voters.”

While the filter is aimed at Trump, spokesperson Justin Barasky took aim at other GOP candidates in a statement:

Donald Trump has offended nearly every segment of the population during his run for President and while we don’t expect Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio or the rest of the GOP field to use this filter since they’ve all promised to support him if he’s the nominee, voters in Nevada now have a fun way to tell Donald Trump just what they think of him and his offensive ideas.

The super PAC and Hillary don’t just have in common then a hope to elect her as president, but also have lumped the other GOP candidates with Trump then. As Barasky also added:

We look forward to watching Nevadans send Donald Trump a message and will continue to engage millennials in new and exciting ways as we hold Republican candidates accountable and help elect Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Love it or hate the gimmick, it is a form of trolling which may work out for them. It’s sure to reach many voters, especially millennials. It is noted that “more than 60% of smartphone users between the ages of 13 and 34 have Snapchat and “geofilters like this one, which are only accessible in certain areas, are viewed 400 to 500 million times a day.”

The group plans to spend “hundreds of millions next year” to defeat the Republican nominee in hopes to elect Hillary. Time will tell if all the social media and spending in the world can bring them their wish.
