Watch: Media shows its hypocrisy on ‘Draw Muhammad’ cartoon contest

The media was highly critical of the “Draw Muhammad” contest hosted by Pamela Geller in Garland, Texas after two would-be attackers were shot dead outside the building.

The media is deeply at odds with the majority of Americans on this issue, however.

Despite the violent attack in Garland, Texas, the majority of Americans believe that people should have “the right to say what they believe even if they take positions that seem deeply offensive to most people.”

Sixty percent of Americans believed it was okay for the Charlie Hebdo magazine to publish cartoons of Muhammad, while only 28 percent believe it wasn’t okay, according to a January Pew Research Center survey.

From 2008 to 2012, Americans responded by over 2 to 1 margins that people have the right to say what they believe even if those positions are deeply offensive to most people, according to surveys conducted by AP/GfK.

This issue is just another that the majority of Americans do not agree with the media on.
