The North Carolina Democrat thinks Uncle Sam should bring back the Double Nickel — 55 mph speed limit — the most widely ignored and ridiculed law in America since Prohibition: “I think that’s a great way to save fuel. I think it would be the right thing to do.”
WHY: Americans have already voluntarily driven 56 billion fewer miles this year, reducing gas demand by 3 percent. Obviously, we don’t need Washington politicos to tell us to use less gas.
