‘Piece of work’: Piers Morgan slams Meghan Markle for making Prince Harry ‘ditch his family’

Television host Piers Morgan praised Queen Elizabeth II and took shots at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after the pair officially negotiated the end of their royal duties.

“The Queen’s told Megan/Harry to sling their part-time royal hook. Well done, Your Majesty – right decision,” Morgan said Saturday on Twitter. “Only surprised it took her so long to get Harry to ditch his family, the Monarchy, the military and his country. What a piece of work.”

“Bottom line: Meghan/Harry wanted to have their cake & eat it, but the Queen just took the cake back to the royal kitchens,” he added. “On a positive note, this spells the death on arrival of Meghan & Harry’s plan for a ‘progressive’ new Monarchy. So they thankfully won’t be ‘woking’ the Windsors after all.”

Buckingham Palace announced Saturday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, 35 and 38, will give up their royal titles as they leave their roles as senior royals. The couple is also required to pay back millions they spent to refurbish their home.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family,” Queen Elizabeth II said in a statement. “It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life.”

The couple is leaving the crown after Markle reportedly felt that her “soul was being crushed” by the pressures of the royal family.

“She said she didn’t want Archie picking up on her stress and anxiety. She felt like it was a toxic environment for him because there was too much tension and pent-up frustrations,” one of her friends said.

The couple shocked the country by unexpectedly announcing their intentions to step back earlier this month and split their time between the United Kingdom and North America. Senior courtiers warned ahead of negotiations that the couple would be punished for their “self-indulgent” behavior.
