Who has the worst poker face in Washington? According to Andy Bloch, the inspiration for the new movie “21” about beating Vegas at blackjack, it is none other than George W. Bush.
“When he was making the case for the war in Iraq, I didn’t believe a word of it,” said Bloch, who was on Capitol Hill recently lobbying for a repeal of the ban on Internet gambling. “Maybe he had a good enough face to convince non-poker players,” added the Massachusetts Institute of Technology grad, who is himself banned from essentially every casino in the country after he and a group of his buddies gamed the system and beat Vegas.

Poker pro Chris “Jesus” Ferguson was in attendance at the publicity event, held at the offices of the libertarian magazine Reason. He waxed philosophical with Block, then threw 38 cards at a carrot held by a lucky fan who managed to escape with all his digits. The carrot however did not fare so well. On the 38th card, it lost its head — or was that its tail?
Ferguson believes that those in support of a ban on Internet gambling are well intentioned, just wrong. A planned game between Bloch and “Jesus” didn’t occur. Which was too bad, because we would have loved to see if Block’s poker face judgment was accurate.
