Davies makes bad judgement call again

A year after a fatal one-car accident on the George Washington Parkway, apparently cars, rules and Charlie Davies still do not mix.

This time, Davies got off light, with only a $1,040 fine and a suspended French driver’s license after he and Sochaux teammate Jacque Faty were pulled over early on Oct. 3 after being clocked at 125 mph. Both have said that Faty was driving but the two switched positions because Faty thought his license was still suspended from a previous speeding incident. Faty doesn’t exactly sound like a first-choice option for a ride, and Davies reportedly could’ve faced potential jail time for lying to authorities.

All this with details freshly inked in the latest ESPN Magazine of his recovery from multiple injuries sustained in an accident that killed another passenger and took place after Davies broke curfew during the U.S. national team’s World Cup qualifier in Washington last October.

Whether it’s in France or the U.S., clearly Davies still has serious judgment problems, not only about his readiness for the World Cup but more importantly, how to choose his late-night transportation.
