Today is Jan. 6, 2026, the fifth anniversary of the 2021 Capitol riot, an event that Democrats and Never Trumpers love to remind everyone repeatedly that it happened.
Democrats like to use it as an example, ad nauseam, of the dangers of Trump’s powers and the devotion of his followers. But while they regularly cite Jan. 6 as a dark day in the nation’s history due to the carnage at the Capitol, they conspicuously lack the same appetite to offer similar criticism for the much more violent, destructive, and damaging riots of Black Lives Matter and antifa in 2020. And unlike the Capitol riot, which occurred in one city and lasted just several hours, that Democrats like to dwell on, the BLM and antifa riots were nationwide and lasted months.
