BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) — A trial date has been set for a 43-year-old upstate New York man accused of killing his downstairs neighbor last year during a robbery.
Christopher Davis is scheduled to stand trial Oct. 20 in Broome County Court. He’s pleaded not guilty to felony counts of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and first-degree robbery in the July 8, 2013, death of 50-year-old Patricia LaCaprara.
Authorities say she died of blunt force trauma to the head.
Davis appeared Friday before Judge Martin Smith for a pretrial hearing regarding statements he made to police. The Binghamton Press and Sun-Bulletin (http://press.sn/1pUZ3Fy ) said the judge made no rulings, but set aside two weeks for the trial.
About 18 witnesses are expected to testify for the prosecution.
Law enforcement officials have not determined a motive.
