How patriotic — or not — is your state?

The Fourth of July is just around the corner, so how does your state stack up against others as a patriotic hotspot?

Personal finance website WalletHub looked at eight key metrics of all 50 states, including military engagement, voting habits and civic education to see which were the most and least patriotic.

The states most associated with the Statue of Liberty — New York and New Jersey — were found to be the least patriotic. Topping the list were Virginia, Washington and Colorado.

Some interesting stats:

• Red states, or those that have voted Republican in the last few elections, were found to be more patriotic than blue states.

• Alaska has twice as many veterans per 100,000 residents as New York.

• Georgia’s military enlistment rate is three times as high as North Dakota.

• Twice as many people voted in Minnesota compared to Arizona for the 2012 presidential election.

• Utah residents are three times as more likely to volunteer than Louisiana residents.

• Vermont has 23 times as many Peace Corps volunteers per 100,000 residents as Mississippi.
