Trump questions why ‘disgraced’ Andrew McCabe isn’t being investigated

President Trump questioned Friday why an investigation hasn’t been launched into “disgraced” former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe for conflicts regarding the bureau’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.

“Why isn’t disgraced FBI official Andrew McCabe being investigated for the $700,000 Crooked Hillary Democrats in Virginia, led by Clinton best friend Terry M (under FBI investigation that they killed) gave to McCabe’s wife in her run for office? Then dropped case on Clinton!” Trump tweeted.

McCabe’s wife, Jill McCabe, received just under $700,000 in campaign contributions from the Virginia Democratic Party and a political action committee started by former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a close ally of the Clintons, during her campaign for the Virginia state Senate in 2015.

McCabe helped oversee the FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s email use as deputy director of the bureau, but did not assume that role until after his wife’s campaign concluded.

The bureau ultimately recommended no criminal charges be brought against Clinton for her handling of classified information through her email server.

Trump frequently criticizes McCabe and has accused him of being biased against him. The former No. 2 at the FBI was fired in March, just hours before he was to formally retire and collect a full pension.
