The White House today praised the decision today announced by TransCanada to submit a new application for the Keystone XL pipeline, after President Obama rejected an effort to push project forward only a month ago.
In a statement emailed to reporters, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney blamed Republicans for the rejection by the State Department by, “not allowing sufficient time for important review or even the identification of a complete pipeline route.”

“We will ensure any project receives the important assessment it deserves, and will base a decision to provide a permit on the completion of that review.” Carney added, citing news this morning of TransCanada’s decision to build the southern portion of the pipeline from Oklahoma to the Gulf of Mexico.
