Grammy-nominated singer Moby was at the Montserrat House on Ninth Street NW Thursday afternoon for an acoustic concert and signing of his new book “Destroyed: Photographs.” Moby, who’s been a photographer since he was 10 years old, says he got the idea to make a photo book a couple of years ago. “I wanted to show my strange experiences on tour and the weird juxtaposition between the strange, desolate, alien nature of being being and in hotel rooms and being immersed in a sea of people, so that is sort of what the book is about.” he explained.
The singer also told us he recently shot a public service announcement for Mike Panetta for where’smystar.org, is an organization lobbying for statehood for D.C.

“It really does baffle me. I am so confused as to why there are 600,000 people in the United States who pay taxes, who are American citizens and who have no federal representation. I really think it’s about time for the citizens of D.C. to actually rise up and demand federal representation and not just like a token observational seat in the House but an actual two senators and membership in the House,” said Moby.
