Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said it’s time for Donald Trump to “move on” from attacking the scores of Republicans who have denounced him of late.
On his show Wednesday, Limbaugh said that none of the criticism Trump is receiving from congressional Republicans matters, so he should stop talking about it.
“Mr. Trump, move on,” he said. “If congressional endorsements meant anything, Jeb Bush would be the nominee. Move on. It doesn’t matter. The people that are running away from you are the people that want to sign up for amnesty and join the Democrats anyway, move on. These people couldn’t get the people they wanted the nomination. Just swat them away, Mr. Trump.”
Several high-ranking GOP leaders, including 2012 presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, have said they can no longer support Trump. Reports have said that House Speaker Paul Ryan is also telling his GOP colleagues in Congress that he will no longer actively campaign for or defend Trump.
Trump in turn has attacked them on Twitter and in media interviews, saying he now feels free from the “shackles” and that he also doesn’t care to retain their support.
