D.C. officials will begin ticketing cars that park at red-top meters without disabled tags on Thursday.
The new meters are reserved for people with disabilities and allow them to park for twice as long as regular meters allow, for the same price.
The District has installed about 400 red-top meters around the city so far, according to the District Department of Transportation.
Officials currently are issuing warnings to unauthorized cars that park in the red-top spaces, explaining the new rules.
