BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Officials say electrical service was restored to a few customers, including The Beverly Hilton hotel, early Wednesday after a five-hour outage caused by a water main break. Power was also shut off to buildings as a precaution.
Beverly Hills police say the break was reported about 9 p.m. Tuesday near Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards. One lane of Santa Monica Boulevard was closed.
At the hotel, officials say no guests were inconvenienced and no evacuations were necessary, but there was flooding on a loading dock and back areas of the hotel. An underground vault that houses generators also flooded but firefighters pumped the water out. The break was capped and the street reopened.
No one was injured.
