LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles man who climbed onto the roofs of homes after a police chase, then barricaded himself in a home with a rifle before being arrested, has pleaded not guilty to charges that he stalked and made criminal threats against an ex-girlfriend.
City News Service reports a judge on Thursday ordered 41-year-old Nolan Perez held in lieu of $1 million bail while awaiting his next court appearance June 24.
Monday’s chase began after police tried to arrest Perez on a warrant. He took off on a high-speed pursuit that ultimately ended with the barricade situation. Authorities shut down nearby freeway ramps and locked down schools as police waited him out.
He was arrested when SWAT officers fired a gas canister into the home.
Perez has not yet been charged in connection with the chase.
