Stanford QB Luck certainly no lock for Heisman

Andrew Luck may already be a lock for the No. 1 draft pick, but he will need a big game against Oregon on Saturday night in order to lock up the Heisman Trophy. Stanford’s quarterback has racked up huge numbers so far this season — 2,424 passing yards, 71.3 completion percentage, 26 touchdowns and just five interceptions. But who has he played?

Stanford’s weak schedule is the reason the undefeated Cardinal remain No. 4 in the BCS standings behind one-loss Alabama.

Nonconference games against San Jose State and Duke weren’t exactly the best way for Luck to showcase his dominance.

Every Heisman winner has a signature game or moment. While Luck has already outdueled Matt Barkley and USC in a triple-overtime thriller Oct. 29, it’s this weekend’s game against the Ducks that will be the real center-stage moment for Luck and his Heisman campaign.

With a win, the Heisman is a lock for Luck.

But if Stanford loses, it’s time to look for a new front-runner.
