WATER MILL, N.Y. (AP) — About 100 firefighters battled a blaze that consumed a home under construction on Long Island’s East End.
The fire broke out at 7:12 p.m. Tuesday on Ponds Road in Water Mill.
Seven fire departments responded to the scene.
Second Assistant Chief Chris Brenner told Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/UAUDJ2 ) the smoke could be seen 35 miles away.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was brought under control at about 11 p.m.
