A replica of a historical sailing ship is docking in Alexandria and giving tours Tuesday through Sunday.
The Godspeed, a replica of a ship that carried English colonists to Jamestown in 1607, will anchor at the Alexandria City Marina, adjacent to Founders Park near the intersection of North Union and Queen streets, and will be open for free daytime tours.
Alexandria public school students will visit this ship this week. Normally stationed in Jamestown, the ship last docked in Alexandria in 2008.
After visiting Alexandria, the ship will sail to Yorktown to celebrate the 230th anniversary of the battle that led to decisive American victory over Great Britain in the Revolutionary War.
