Alexander the Great

For the first time in a long time, Washington hockey fans have reason to be excited. The Capitals are in the thick of a race for the NHL playoffs and superstar-winger Alexander Ovechkin seems a lock to capture the league’s MVP award. Heading into Saturday’s game against Boston, Ovechkin is leading the NHL in goals — 54, which is 11 more than the next player on the leaderboard — and points. There’s no doubt the Caps wouldn’t be in this position if it weren’t for him. Full disclosure here: I am a big hockey fan, so I probably follow the sport more than many Washingtonians.
