WHO: Rep. Charles Rangel
WHAT: The New York Democrat said he would “probably” introduce legislation in Congress to reinstitute the military draft.
WHY IT’S DIM: The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for, among much else, allegedly failing to report rental income on a villa he owns in the Dominican Republic. Then there’s the fact the last time mandatory service was proposed in 2004, it was defeated 402-2.
CURE: Don’t be distracted, or distracting, from your real problems, congressman.
