Under the gun last year as the nation’s most heralded freshman, Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor didn’t fare well. Now he faces his first big game as a sophomore. With a few more catches by his slippery-fingered receivers last week against Navy, his numbers (14 of 21, 174 yards) would have been better. USC freshman Matt Barkley had no such regrets after he completed 15 of 19 passes for 233 yards in his efficient debut against overmatched San Jose State.
