Being that the current NATO summit in Bucharest, Romania, is President Bush’s last, perhaps he’s just ready to be done with it.
At about 6 p.m. on Thursday, the president “literally just got up, walked out, got into his car and left without waiting for the rest of the motorcade,” according to the White House pool report. His departure came 10 minutes before the official photograph was to be taken.

A White House official, who requested anonymity, pointed out that while he left early, he still was less restive than some of his peers.
“The president sat through the entire first part of the meeting, unlike some of the other world leaders who went and came as they pleased,” such as France’s Nicolas Sarkozy and Canada’s Stephen Harper, said the official. “He wanted to get back here in order to pick up Mrs. Bush and get ready for the evening events.”
