WHAT: The Democratic National Committee chairwoman brushed off Republican Bob Turner’s victory Tuesday in New York’s 9th Congressional District, saying, “It’s a very difficult district for Democrats.” WHY IT’S DIM: Democrats have held the seat since 1923 and President Obama won the district with 55 percent of the vote in 2008.

CURE: Time to admit that under Obama, there may be no safe Democratic districts.
