The nation’s governors are headed to … Williamsburg!
Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Wednesday that the National Governors’ Association will hold its annual 2012 meeting in Williamsburg, Va.
“It was Williamsburg where many of our Founders studied, learned and debated the concepts, principles and ideas that would ultimately create the government we have today,” he said. “Just as the Founders debated the matters of their day, we will discuss the issues of ours.”

The event will be held from July 13-15 (about four months out from the 2012 elections, for those keeping score at home).
The confab will mark the fourth time the NGA has held its annual meeting in Virginia. Past meetings were held in Richmond in 1912 and 1932, and in Williamsburg in 1957.
The National Governors Association’s nine-governor executive committee determines the site of the annual meeting based on proposals and invitations of governors wishing to host.
The meeting draws about 1,000 attendees and is one of the organization’s two official business meetings held each year; the Winter Meeting is held in Washington in February.
This year’s meeting was held last month in Boston, and next year’s will be held in Salt Lake City.
