Pickens’ pooch locks him out

In recent years, T. Boone Pickens has tried to market himself as a problem solver, but earlier this week during a visit to D.C., he and his wife had to solve a seriously bizarre one. The two attended a private dinner Tuesday night at the Monocle restaurant on Capitol Hill and were some of the last to leave the establishment. Madeleine Pickens had requested a vegetarian meal, but re-entered the venue to ask for some meat, confusing the restaurant’s employees, sources tell Yeas & Nays — why did she need meat?

Well, it seems the couple’s driver had left their shelter dog, Tommy, in the car, and Tommy had jumped up and hit the automatic locks, leaving everyone locked out of the vehicle. Eventually, they got the dog to bounce just right to roll down the window. “They just got the dog to hop around side to side until he landed on the window button,” a publicist for Pickens confirmed.

Pickens was in town to talk clean energy and had appeared at the National Press Club alongside Ted Turner earlier in the day.
