Arbor Day Foundation: Give $10, get 10 trees

Everyone who joins the Arbor Day Foundation during August will receive 10 white flowering dogwood trees. The program is part of the Foundation’s Trees for America campaign. “Dogwood trees have showy spring flowers, scarlet autumn foliage, and red berries that attract songbirds all winter long,” said the Foundation’s chief executive, John Rosenow. The 6- to 12-inch trees are guaranteed to grow, and will be shipped between Oct. 10 and Dec. 10, depending on the right time for planting in a member’s area. Budding arborists can join the nonprofit for $10 online.
