Maryland stadium officials have agreed to conduct a study of the Show Place Arena and equestrian center in Upper Marlboro.
The Maryland Stadium Authority Board voted in favor of conducting the study on Tuesday. The $40,000 study, which was requested by and will be paid for by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, will give an update of the market potential of the arena, which is used primarily for trade shows and high school graduations.
The study also will examine the arena’s management structure, which came under scrutiny this summer, when auditors reviewed more than $1 million for spending irregularities.
Now that the board approved the study, legislative budget committees in Annapolis have 30 days to comment on the study before the stadium authority begins.
