Top Five: Title games for the BCS

We’re down to seven legitimate BCS contenders: LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Boise State, Oregon and South Carolina. Here are five title games we would like to see and why: 5. Oklahoma State vs. South Carolina » If the Cowboys and Gamecocks win their respective conferences, imagine the pregame fun between Mike “I’m a man, I’m 40” Gundy and Steve “He looked great in Osaka” Spurrier.

4. Boise State vs. Alabama » If the lords of the NCAA haven’t rigged the system sufficiently to prevent the Broncos from getting to the title game, wouldn’t it be intriguing to see Kellen Moore and Boise State take on Alabama in a clash of party crashers vs. blue bloods?

3. Oklahoma State vs. Stanford » This matchup is possible if the LSU-Alabama winner falls in the SEC title game. The last time the Big 12 and the conference currently known as the Pac-12 faced off, it produced the best BCS title game (Texas 41, Southern Cal 38). Perhaps this would be another classic shootout with Brandon Weeden dueling Andrew Luck.

2. LSU vs. Alabama » If Saturday’s meeting between the Tigers and Crimson Tide is as good as anticipated and Oklahoma State and Stanford stumble, why not a rematch to rock the Superdome in the first interconference BCS title game?

1. Stanford vs. LSU » If the Cardinal remain undefeated, it would be hard not to give the Heisman to Andrew Luck. The most intriguing storyline for Luck would be to take on the swarming defense and home crowd of LSU. The Tigers won the last two times New Orleans hosted (2005, 2008).
