Matthew Lorber, 11, of Reisterstown, is a winner of a Kids Clubhouse essay contest, “If you could interview a celebrity, who would it be and why?” He chose to interview Ravens Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith.

My interview with Troy Smith was spectacular! When I got to the training camp that day, I couldn?t believe that I was going to meet a Heisman Trophy winner on the Ravens football team.

Meeting Troy Smith and interviewing him was the time of my life. Troy was a very nice football player and was well-spoken.

One thing I thought Troy Smith had a great answer for was when he said, “I?m more excited for a Super Bowl win than getting into Pro Bowl because the Super Bowl is a team effort.”

He autographed my football, and I will always remember and cherish that ball with Troy?s autograph.

Here is my interview with Troy Smith:

Q: I was shocked that you were the fifth-round draft pick. How do you feel to be a fifth-round draft pick?

A: Happy. Not everybody gets a chance to be drafted. Even though it was later than a lot of people thought, just being drafted is a privilege.

Q: Did Steve McNair teach you anything new about becoming a new and improved NFL quarterback?

A: Oh, yes. Steve McNair taught me a lot of things about becoming a new and improved quarterback at this level.

But not only Steve McNair, Kyle Boller and Drew Olsen taught me some things too.

Q: Do you think you will go to the Pro Bowl or the Super Bowl?

A: I don?t know about the Pro Bowl, but I am more excited about going to the Super Bowl ?cause things that happen as a team are more important than just self-achievement.

Q: If you weren?t a football player, what would you want to be?

A: I?d be a business manager. I?d be an entrepreneur owning my own businesses.
