Bipartisan leaders in the House and Senate hope to pass a $2 trillion emergency relief package to help families, workers, and businesses feeling the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.
The measure passed unanimously by the Senate late Wednesday would provide $1,200 in direct cash payments to individuals and an average of $3,000 for families. The measure provides $350 billion in aid to small businesses through forgivable loans and $500 billion in loans to big industries.
The legislation now heads to the House. President Trump said Wednesday he would sign the bill “immediately” if it makes it to his desk.
