MAYVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — A trial is underway for the last of four men charged in the slaying of a couple during a burglary at the victims’ western New York home last year.
Opening statements were made Tuesday in a Chautauqua County court in the double-murder trial of 35-year-old Davide Coggins.

He’s charged in the April 2013 slayings of Gordon and Joyce Skinner inside their home in the rural town of Carroll, on the Pennsylvania border 65 miles south of Buffalo.
Prosecutors say Coggins and three young men from Elmira forced their way into the home. Authorities say Coggins tied Gordon Skinner to a chair and stabbed him before setting him on fire. Officials say he then stabbed Joyce Skinner multiple times.
The other three men charged in the slayings have pleaded guilty and will testify against Coggins.
