‘It’s time to look after daddy’: Meghan Markle father claims ‘royals owe’ him

Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan Markle, said that he should be able to make money off his daughter and son-in-law after all the “trashy things” they said about him.

“I don’t care. At this point, they owe me. The royals owe me. Harry owes me. Meghan owes me,” the 75-year-old father said in a documentary that Channel 5 aired Tuesday evening. “What I’ve been through, I should be rewarded for. My daughter told me that when I reach my senior years, she’ll take care of me. I’m in my senior years now. It’s time to look after daddy.”

Thomas admitted in the interview that he had made money by staging photos with the paparazzi. “Absolutely. Those pictures will sell forever,” he said about the photos, which included one of him measuring a wedding suit before the royal wedding.

“I’m going to defend myself, and I’m going to be paid for it. I don’t care,” he added. He never attended Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding because of health issues.

Thomas Markle said he does not expect to hear from the royal couple again. “I don’t think at this point they’re thrilled to see me or want to talk to me. The last time they might see me is being lowered into the ground,” he said.

In a part of his interview that was released earlier in the week, Thomas tore into the couple’s decision to leave their duties as senior royals, saying they were turning the royal family “into a Walmart with a crown on it.”

“It is something that is ridiculous. They shouldn’t be doing this,” he said. “It’s disappointing because she actually got every girl’s dream. Every young girl wants to become a princess, and she got that, and now she’s tossing that away for — it looks like she’s tossing that away for money.”
