NEW YORK (AP) — Two people are under arrest after police investigating possible dog fighting say they found 20 emaciated and scarred pit bulls inside a Queens home.
Addison Holder and Keisha Hall were charged Thursday with animal cruelty, animal fighting and methamphetamine possession. They were both scheduled to make court appearances Friday.
Information on their lawyers was not immediately available.
Police say the 44-year-old Holder and 33-year-old Hall were taken into custody after the newly formed Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad executed a search warrant at their St. Albans home.
Police say the unit was looking into alleged dog fighting at the location.
Police say the 113th Precinct Anti-Crime Team and the ASPCA’s Forensic Investigative Team aided in the investigation.
They say the dogs are being treated at an ASPCA office.
