Federal agents arrested three Prince George’s County police officers Monday morning, three days after bringing in County Executive Jack Johnson on corruption charges, police officials said.
The officers were among nine people whose indictments were unsealed Monday. Two of the officers, Sgt. Richard Delabrer, 45, and Cpl. Chong Chin Kim, 42, are charged with conspiracy to commit extortion in a scheme to sell untaxed cigarettes and alcohol.
The third officer, Sinisa Simic, 25, was indicted on drug trafficking and gun charges.
The officers were called into the headquarters Monday morning and were taken into custody by FBI agents, police spokesman Andy Ellis said.
Ellis said he did not think the arrests were connected to the arrest of Johnson, who was arrested Friday after agents said he ordered his wife to flush a $100,000 check from a developer from a developer and to hide nearly $80,000 in cash in her underwear.
The Prince George’s County officers were expected to have their initial appearance in federal court Monday afternoon.
Agents also raided a liquor store in Langley Park and were expected to serve more warrants throughout the county, police said.
