Animal control authorities investigating a report of possible animal cruelty removed 21 dogs from a Manassas home, police said.
The dogs were living in filthy unsanitary conditions, and animal feces, acrid ammonia and trash were found throughout the house, said Manassas animal control division chief Karen S. Hayo.
The dogs were toy breeds — Malteses, papal lions and poodles — police said.
No arrests have not been made, but the investigation is continuing, Hayo said.
